In a remarkable filing, the Air Marshal National Council/ Federal Security Council filed a sweeping complaint alleging that FAMS supervisors and management have systemically defrauded injured air marshals by omitting elements of pay from claim forms so that injured air marshals receive less than what they are due for their lost wages. A news release regarding this can be found at:
But lets be clear, it is not just FAMS and other employing agencies, it is also OWCP senior management that is well aware of the myriad problems getting employing agencies to submit accurate information. Under these circumstances, it would appear that by doing nothing about this problem, and allowing it to continue, OWCP management has made a decision to allow for this and is therefore complicit in this fraud.
One is either part of the solution or part of the problem. By continuing to ignore the pay rate problems that arise in far too many FECA claims, those running OWCP have chosen to approve this sort of agency malfeasance and should also be named in the above complaint.
